About the Competition

The Lev Vlassenko Piano Competition is pleased to announce its revised format for the 2021 competition, made possible by the generous support of the Trevor and Judith St Baker Family Foundation.

This will see 12 Competitors selected by audition, present a 90-minute piano recital (with interval) between 18 June and 6 July 2021 in one of three capital cities, (Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane). This will minimize travel for competitors and aims to avoid possible complications and delays. All will be live-streamed to the Jury and to the general public worldwide.

Three Finalists will be selected and announced on 7 July 2021. Each will perform their nominated piano concerto with Queensland Symphony Orchestra on 16 July 2021 in Brisbane.

The Finals will be judged by three international jury members remotely and all prizes presented that same evening.

The performance schedule will be determined by the Competition before the start of the competition. The order will not be altered except at the discretion of the Jury in case of illness or other special circumstances. Competitors must nominate their closest Competition venue when applying.
