About the Competition

The Lev Vlassenko Piano Competition, with the generous support of the Trevor and Judith St Baker Family Foundation, is pleased to announce the inaugural Young Lev Vlassenko Piano Competition.

This will see up to nine Competitors selected by audition, present a 25-minute piano recital between 18 June and 5 July 2021 in one of three capital cities, (Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane). This will minimize travel for competitors and aims to avoid possible complications and delays. All will be livestreamed to the Jury and to the general public worldwide.

Three Finalists will be selected and announced on 6 July 2021. Each will perform a movement of a piano concerto with Queensland Symphony Orchestra on 16 July 2021 in Brisbane.

The Finals will be judged by three international jury members and all prizes presented that same evening.

The performance schedule will be determined by the Competition before the start of the competition. This order will not be altered except at the discretion of the Jury in case of illness or other special circumstances. Competitors must nominate their preferred capital city when applying.
