Biography
Alexander Hazelbank began piano lessons at a young age, but soon opted to teach himself the drums, guitar and banjo instead. His love of music, especially Beethoven’s keyboard compositions, eventually led him back to the piano and he learned music notation from a classically trained neighbour. After many years of self-teaching he took piano lessons in his final year of high school to prepare for university auditions where he would be successful.
Since 2016 he has studied piano with Associate Professor Ronald Farren-Price AM.
In 2017 he received the Allen Scholarship Award for piano performance, and in 2019 produced the debut recording of contemporary piano études by the Sydney composer, Kate Reid.
Currently he is a performer, recording artist and teacher studying music at the UoM Conservatorium where he is pursuing a Masters of Research degree.
