Biography
Sydney born pianist Anna Gao began studying piano at the age of 9. Anna made her debut concerto appearance in 2018 with Preston Symphony Orchestra, performing Grieg’s Piano Concerto to a capacity audience at the Northcote Town Hall. She has also been invited to perform as a soloist with Zelman Symphony Orchestra and Melbourne Youth Orchestra. Anna performs regularly and has participated in various competitions, receiving many awards, including first place in the Ringwood eisteddfod ‘Open Solo Piano’ section, for which she was invited back to perform in a recital at the Karralyka Centre. She won the Margaret Schofield Memorial Prize in 2019. Anna has also won various awards at West Gippsland Eisteddfod, La Trobe Valley Eisteddfod and Eisteddfod by the Bay. She was also a finalist in the 3mbs The Talent competition, where she performed live on 3mbs FM.
Anna is currently undertaking her honours year in a Bachelor of music course at the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music, studying under Glenn Riddle. She aspires to travel abroad and take her music studies overseas to Europe in order to further her knowledge.
