Biography
Meng began playing piano at the age of six and since being admitted to the Victorian College of the Arts Secondary School, he has been studying with maestro Glenn Riddle since 2016. He has won numerous awards locally and nationally and to list some include winning awards for two consecutive years at the MRC Bach Competition, including the Young Bach Scholar Award, sponsored by Maria Johnson and the Encouragement award. He has also won awards including the Ann and Chris Krans Scholarship, Margaret Green Scholarship and the Reg and Lil Lewis award. Meng’s playing has twice been broadcasted statewide at 3MBS, followed by an interview once in 2016 and the other in 2021. Meng has also given recitals to the Austral Salon in 2019 and has been invited back to perform again in August this year. In November 2019, Meng made his concerto debut with the Maroondah Symphony Orchestra, playing Liszt’s Piano Concerto No.2 and Litolff’s Scherzo from Concerto Symphonique No.4. Meng hopes to further his passion for music by studying piano in university and intends for a musical career.
