Biography

South-korean  born, Melbourne based pianist Rachel Shindang is a first year student  at the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music, studying with Glenn Riddle.  Succesfully completing her AmusA in 2017 and LmusA in 2019. Rachel has  been awarded significant prizes in various competitions such as the  Margaret Schofield Chopin prize, Hephzibah Menuhin and first prizes in  local piano competitions. She was also the recipient of the VCASS  Phyllis McDonald piano scholarship. Rachel made her first concerto debut  with the Preston Symphony Orchestra in 2017, playing Mendelssohn’s 1st  Piano Concerto in G minor. She once again played with the Preston  Symphony Orchestra in 2019, performing the Beethoven Piano Concerto in C  minor. In 2018, Rachel competed in her first international competition,  the Hanoi International Piano competition, where she successfully made  it up to the semi-finals.
