Biography
Lucas Low has been playing piano since he was 6 years, initially taught by his Aunty. In 2016, he changed teachers to the experienced Mrs Estelle Shields and completed his first AMEB exam for Grade 4 piano. Last year Lucas completed his AmusA and has enjoyed studying musicianship to Grade 5.
Over the last 5 years, Lucas has enjoyed participating in the local Ryde Eisteddfod as it has given him the opportunity and the confidence to perform. In 2019 at the Eisteddfod, he performed his own composition “Pachelbel Rag.” Composing and transcribing music are some of his many hobbies.
As a member of the Northern Sydney Youth Orchestra Symphony Violin 2 since 2019, Lucas regularly participates in weekly rehearsals as well as concerts and workshops throughout the year, giving him the chance to work with other dedicated and talented young musicians. Last year when Lucas started high school, he was given the opportunity to accompany HSC students on the piano and is continuing to assist HSC students with their performances this year.
Since the end of last year, Lucas can be found busking on his keyboard at Eastwood Plaza, entertaining lunchtime passersby every second Sunday or so with a variety of pieces from classical, jazz, pop, film and game music.
Lucas enjoys a range of sports including soccer, tennis and athletics. He likes hanging out with his family and pet rabbit Truffles as well as cooking and playing Minecraft with his friends.
