13. Terence Zhao

Terence Zhao is a 10-year-old boy and studies at Regent College, a Christian school. He was born on 2 November 2010 and he plays piano and sings classical music.

He first started learning piano at 3 and started to develop his piano techniques. His lessons in the first 3 months were only 30 minutes. Then, from the fourth month, an hour lesson. His foundation teacher taught him for 6 years until he joined Mr Yoon Sen Lee’s music school on the 18th of January 2020.

Recently, he started vocal training. He was a member of his school choir and he is part of the school band. His vocal training is part of his daily practice and he practices it 30 mins a day. Singing released his voice and took him to a realm with no stress, pain or pressure. Daily piano practice is essential, which not only teaches you the techniques, but also about life. Music has feelings, so does life. When the whole world went into lockdown, music was our communication. Music was the only thing that defined hope and it still is now. The ups and downs all lead to a wonderful end or in music, a cadence. Life without music is the same as a human body without a heartbeat. We need a heartbeat to stay alive and we need music to keep connected.
