Biography
Sheng-Yuan Lynch showed a great interest and talent in piano and classical music at the tender age of three, learning to play simply by listening to recordings. In 2012, he began formal lessons with Shan Deng, Senior Lecturer in Classical Piano at University of Tasmania.
Starting from his AMEB Grade 6 exam at the age of 9, he passed AMusA and LMusA diplomas with distinction by the age of 12, where he is one of the youngest candidates in Australia with the award.
Fearless on stage, Sheng-Yuan has been invited to perform in Melbourne, Sydney, Hobart and as far abroad as Beijing. Some highlight appearances in the last few years include being guest solo pianist with the Macquarie Symphony Orchestra, the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra and Tasmanian Youth Orchestra. He has also excelled in competitions, including being awarded the prestigious McCann's Music Award for being the most outstanding AMEB candidate in Southern Tasmania, and Tasmanian Music Teachers Association's Award for most promising junior pianist. At the age of thirteen, Sheng-Yuan became the winner of 2018 Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra’s Rising Star competition.
Using music as a way to assist those in need, Sheng-Yuan has performed various charity concerts, helping donate a total of over $130,000 to six organizations since he was 10. In his spare time, he enjoys composing (and remixing) orchestral pieces, and wishes to become a film composer.
