Biography
12 years old Louis Fan started learning piano at the age of seven and percussion at the age of five. During the last 4 years Louis has been performing percussions, piano and clarinet with several school bands. In 2020 he has been selected into the Music Excellent Program at Macgregor State School and won the school’s Music Excellent Award in 2020. In the same year he represented Macgregor State School at the Queensland State Honours Ensemble Program playing the percussions as one of the few primary students selected from entire State. This year Louis has successfully auditioned as a percussionist for the Queensland Youth Orchestra.
Louis has regularly performed in competitions, concerts and masterclasses, and has won several prizes and awards in both Piano and Percussion competitions. In August 2019 he won first prize at the QLD Piano Competition (10 years and under) and second prize at the Sydney Eisteddfod (18th Century, 10 years). In the same year he represented Queensland at the Bernstein Piano Competition in Melbourne where he was awarded 2nd Prize in his age category. He was also the First Prize Winner in the Primary Solo at the Australian Percussion Eisteddfod in Sydney.
Louis is a Year 7 student at the Brisbane Anglican Church Grammar School, where he is the recipient of a School Music Excellence Scholarship. He is currently studying towards his AMus Diploma in both Piano and Percussion.
Louis studies piano privately with Ms Mimia Margiotta.
