Sheng-Yuan Lynch showed a great interest and talent in piano and classical music at the age of three. In 2012, he began formal lessons with Shan Deng, Senior Lecturer in Classical Piano at the University of Tasmania. Starting with an AMEB Grade 6 exam at the age of 9, he passed his LMusA diploma with distinction by the age of 12, then one of the youngest candidates in Australia with that award. Sheng-Yuan has been invited to perform in Melbourne, Sydney, Hobart and Beijing. His standout appearances in the last few years include guest solo pianist with the Macquarie Symphony Orchestra, the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra and Tasmanian Youth Orchestra. At the age of thirteen, Sheng-Yuan became the winner of 2018 Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra’s Rising Star competition. Using music as a way to assist those in need, Sheng-Yuan has performed various charity concerts, helping raise more than $130,000. In his spare time, he enjoys composing (and remixing) orchestral pieces, and wishes to become a film composer.
